Against the backdrop that both Hyogo and Guangdong have been trade centers with overseas from ancient times, that Sun Yat-sen known as “the Father of the Chinese Revolution” was closely related to Hyogo and that there are many people from Guangdong in Hyogo, we formed a friendship agreement on March 23, 1983. Since then, we have promoted exchange in a variety of fields. In recent years, we have deepened exchange through mutual visits by delegations of the both parties, economic exchange through the “Japan Guangdong Economic Promotion Council,” which is a dialogue framework between Japan and Guangdong, establishment of the “Hyogo International Business Support Desk,” dispatch of a tourism promotion team, holding of environmental business exchange meetings, mutual visits of high school students, and acceptance of Coordinators for International Relations, among other activities.
