Overview of Khabarovsk Krai, the Russian Federation

Exchange activities with Hyogo Prefecture

In the wake of the visit of the then Vice Governor of Hyogo Prefecture to the “First Japan Coastal Trade Fair" held in the Khabarovsk Krai, the two regions concluded a friendship agreement on April 18, 1969. Since then, we have repeatedly conducted exchange, including mutually dispatching delegates and economic exchange delegations. A very special exchange was conducted when Oriental White Storks, extinct in Japan, were donated by Khabarovsk Krai. Hyogo protected and bred them at the Hyogo Park of the Oriental White Stork. After succeeding in returning them to the wild, Hyogo donated some Oriental White Storks to Khabarovsk Krai. In recent years, the two regions are focusing on personnel exchange, such as the acceptance of overseas trainees and youth sports exchanges.
