In the wake of staging a performance of Awaji Ningyo Joruri (puppet theater) in Nord in 2004 as a commemorative event for the 10th anniversary of the opening of the European Representative Office of Hyogo Prefecture, the two regions started exchange and the “Joint statement between Hyogo Prefecture and Nord” was signed on September 19, 2013. In 2016, an economic seminar from Nord was held in Hyogo Prefecture.
In addition, student exchange between Suma Gakuen and Montebello High Schools and academic exchanges between Kobe University and the University of Lille III are being conducted.
