Overview of the State of Western Australia, Australia

Exchange activities with Hyogo Prefecture

Hyogo Prefecture and Western Australia formed a Sister State relationship on June 23, 1981. Since then, starting with the reciprocal establishment of our overseas offices, we have conducted a variety of exchange activities, including exchange through HUMAP (Hyogo University Mobility in Asia and Pacific), mutual dispatch of high school students and teachers, economic exchange based on the Hyogo/Kansai-Western Australia trade and investment initiative, and implementation of the Western Australia-Hyogo Banshu-ori program, among others. Exchange activities in the fields of the environment and nursing-care service for the elderly are also in progress. In addition, Hyogo Prefecture has successfully bred koalas within the prefecture donated by Western Australia at the twentieth and thirtieth anniversaries of the Sister State Partnership.
